In memory of Paul Antrobus 8th March 1964- 2nd August 2006

Paul Antrobus

This was Paul's write up after I badgered him to add something to the contacts page

I've supported Wrexham since 1975, I did follow Arsenal as well, until Bryn pointed out the error of my ways. Favourite player has to be JOEY JONES the man always gave 110% whether playing for Wrexham or Wales.I'm active supporter of Wales and along with my brother- in- law I try to get down to the Millennium stadium as often as possible, Love Saturday games as we stay over and go out for a BRAINS drinking session after the match.Highs. have to include 7-1 Rotherham, Arsenal game and LDV Lows. Any relegation season, losing to Chesterfield and losing at Orient in play off final.

Obituary

A very sad day indeed, one which i never expected to arrive for at least another 30 years or so,Paul was 42 years old and had so much to look forward to,he was told in June that he had cancer and sadly passed away this morning.

Paul (Etna Road Red) was my best friend,a friend for almost 30 years and was the founder of Buckley & District Reds ,it was Paul who put the idea forward on the RP message board in January to have a get together after reserve games at Buckley to raise funds to help the club,it all snow balled from then (i became the mouthpiece as i was the "gobby one") he supported the Reds through thick & thin since 1975 and was so proud of the club he followed that his youngest daughter was named Robyn after the Robins
Paul will be missed greatly in the paddock near the away team dugouts, where he liked to dish out a bit of verbal to opposing teams managers etc,and it's going to be strange not traveling to games and watching them with him anymore,we've been doing it since about 1978/9 Anyone who knew Paul would know what a down to earth, shy man he was who loved his family, friends,Wrexham Football Club & his country ...Wales, he would do anything to help you,a really nice bloke who will be missed by all who knew him.
He leaves a wife Angela & 2 teenage daughters Jessica & Robyn behind,as well as his mother, brother & sister & extended family.
My thoughts are with them all and all of his other friends at this very sad time,
Things will never be the same

Buckley & District Reds will not be the same anymore , i know how proud Paul was of this fans group and what we have achieved in the short time we have been here , the biggest tribute we can give Paul is to take BUCKLEY & DISTRICT REDS forward and ensure that we support WREXHAM FC and play our part in the future of the football club.

RIP Paul, you will be missed but never forgotten

Bryn
